Wavin Plastics’ composite multi-layered OSMA Trigon barrier pipe system offers developers and water providers an effective solution to the problem of transporting drinking water across contaminated land.

Trigon is specifically designed for areas of contaminated land unsuited to conventional plastic pipe products. These are typically urban brownfield sites where there are known contaminants in the ground.

Trigon pipes incorporate an aluminium barrier layer sandwiched between two layers of polyethylene. The inner standard blue PE80 core pipe, approved for transporting potable water, is wrapped in an aluminium layer double coated with adhesive to protect against both organic and inorganic contamination.

The distinctive brown stripes of the outer sheath of polyetheylene mean corrosion-resistant Trigon barrier pipes are easily identified. The system is flexibly constructed, easy to handle and install.

Trigon pipes come in 25mm, 32mm and 63mm sizes, in 25m and 50m coils. Additionally straight pipe lengths are available in the 63mm size. All pipes are designed for use at pressures up to 12.5 bar. The largest diameter is suitable for multiple service supply areas. These impermeable barrier pipes can be installed without any prior preparation or external wrapping.

Both Trigon pipes and DZR brass fittings are resistant to external attack from acids, alkalis, sulphates and chlorides. Every Trigon fitting is supplied with an insert designed to maintain the integrity of the pipe. Fittings incorporate an integral O-ring seal and grip ring to provide a fully sealed and end load resistant joint, which is guaranteed to keep out all contaminants.

Fittings are available in 25mm, 32mm and 63mm versions and are WRC, DVGW and KIWA approved. Straight couplings, male & female couplings, transition couplings, equal tees, reducers and 45° & 90° elbows are available.
